Our mission is to connect qualified teacher applicants who are biliterate in English/Spanish to teaching opportunities in Texas.
The organization was created to address the glaring deficit of Biliterate (English/Spanish) teachers in Texas. Currently, the solution is being addressed by recruiting teachers through the J1 Visa process. These teachers are primarily being sourced from the countries of Spain and the Philippines.
Canta COQUÍ proposes to source teachers from Puerto Rico. Canta COQUÍ has recognized this tremendous opportunity that will conjoin an underutilized resource, teachers from Puerto Rico, with an underserved student population. The melding is a more complicated endeavor than simply introducing prospective teachers to a job opportunity. Canta COQUÍ has identified each of the hurdles/challenges that serve as barriers to entry, for which there are several. Canta COQUÍ has developed a model to address these challenges.
